How to restore a network connection

Scenario: You get the Windows message that "the working folder cannot be found" after clicking on your desktop icon to start Club Office.

  1. Get back to your normal Windows desktop.
  2. Right-click on the icon that you normally use to start Club Office. This is also called a "desktop shortcut."
  3. Select PROPERTIES from the panel that appears.
  4. Click on the SHORTCUT tab at the top of the properties panel.
  5. View the entry in the TARGET line. The drive letter the icon is linked to is the first character in the line. Make a mental note of this letter.
  6. Close the properties panel altogether and get back to the Windows desktop.
  7. Open Network Neighborhood. The names of network devices will appear in a moment.
  8. Try opening various devices until you locate the one that contains Club Office. You may need your network administrator's help, but in general, if you find a CDCO folder somewhere, you've likely found the right computer. The resource you want to link to is the one that you had to click on to see the CDCO folder. In many cases, this is called CLUBOFFC.
  9. Right-click on the CLUBOFFC (or other word) item. A drop-down list of options will appear.
  10. Select the MAP NETWORK DRIVE option from the list.
  11. In the box that appears, use the down arrow to select the drive letter to use (select the same one that you made a mental note of in step #5 above)
  12. Be sure to check the "Restore Connection" box by clicking on it.
  13. Click OKAY. In a moment, you should soon see a CDCO folder appear on your screen.
  14. Close all the boxes on the screen. You're done.
