How to pay an employee different rates based on hours of the day.

Scenario: A waitstaff person is paid a different amount for A.M. work verses P.M. or evening work.

  1. Start the employee wizard..
  2. Select JOBS in the menu bar..
  3. Create a WAITSTAFF-AM job and WAITSTAFF-PM job. You may use the same g/l account numbers if you desire.
  4. Exit the employee wizard
  5. Start the employee module and find the employee to change.
  6. Go to the earnings detail section.
  7. Click the MODIFY button.
  8. Click the ADD JOB button
  9. Select the WAITSTAFF-AM job from the grid. Be sure to enter the desired pay rate.
  10. Click the ADD JOB button again.
  11. Select the WAITSTAFF-PM job from the grid. Be sure to enter the desired pay rate.
  12. Set one of the jobs as the "main" job. This is the job he/she works most of the time.
  13. Click the SAVE button.
  14. When keying the payroll for this employee, the "main" job will appear first. Key in appropriate hours.
  15. The system will advance to the next employee; click back on the original employee again and then click on the secondary job in the job grid and key the appropriate hours for the secondary job.
