How to change an employee deduction rate.

Scenario: The employee changes his/her 401k contribution rate from a percentage to a flat rate.

  1. Start the employee module; go to the earnings screens.
  2. Select the deductions tab.
  3. Select the deduction needing the change. In some cases there may be only one; in others, you may have several deductions for an employee.
  4. Click the MODIFY button.
  5. In the 0$% window, type the dollar sign ($) to signify a flat rate calculation.
  6. In the Amount window, enter the dollar amount to deduct per pay period (example: 25.75). Enter only the decimal amount without the dollar sign.
  7. Click the SAVE button.

Note: To change from a flat rate to a percentage, in step #5 above, type the % sign instead. Then in step #6 above, remember to type the percentage instead of the dollar amount. Remember that 20% is typed as 0.20 !!!
