How to recalibrate the touch screen from InfoTouch

Symptom: the button you touch on the screen doesn't highlight when you touch it; what you see on the screen doesn't seem to coincide with where you touch.

Multi-register network users follow this procedure

  1. Know which register number you need to reprogram. Is it #1, 2, 3, etc.?

  2. Get to a DOS prompt in the \TNS directory. This is probably on drive I:

  3. Type this: TII_SETN REGxx where xx is your register number. Remember that you must type 02 for register 2, 03 for register 3, etc. This is a critically important step as it tells InfoTouch which register is being recalibrated. Each register has its own recalibration settings.

  4. Type this: CALIB to display the calibration screen. It should be a purple color. If it's blue, then the computer and the touch screen are not communicating and you'll likely need to reprogram the touch screen controller first. (Click here for reprogramming info: Reprogram Touch Controller)

  5. Using the monitor's adjustment controls (knobs/buttons usually below the monitor's screen), adjust the height and width of the screen so that you can see all four corners.

  6. With your finger, touch exactly on the small white cursor box on the lower left corner of the screen, then release. The cursor should move to the upper right corner.

  7. Touch exactly on the box in the upper right corner. A moment or two later, you should see a message that you're using a "Microtouch screen."

  8. To test your calibration, type POINT and press ENTER. Another purple screen should appear, this time with grid lines and coordinate numbers in the center of the screen. As you move your finger around the screen, the relative coordinate numbers should change in the middle of the screen to show you that the screen is working.

  • Touch the upper left corner: the numbers should be 0,0 (or relatively close -- within 50 units either way)

  • Touch the lower right corner: the numbers should be 1023,1023 (or close)

  • Touch the lower left corner: numbers should be 0,1023 (or close)

  • Touch the upper right corner: numbers should be 1023,0 (or close)

  • Press the ESC key to cancel the point program.
